John grew up in northern Maine.  He attended college at the University of Maine and upon graduation in 1992 was commissioned an officer in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain.  His time in the army was evenly split between tactical and technical assignments.  He left the army in 1999 and took management and project management positions in the private sector, returning to government service with the NYPD in 2002 following the 9/11 attacks.  In the NYPD, John served as a patrol officer in the Bronx before being selected for assignment to the Detective Bureau in Financial Crimes.  John conducted financial crime and identity fraud investigations for eight years before being selected to run large infrastructure projects for the NYPD’s Information Technology Bureau in 2014.  John retired from the NYPD in August of 2019 and joined NSS in August of 2020.  He is married and lives in the Bronx.
